Welcome to #TeamGeorgia's Team Page!!
Thank you for visiting our team page! Congenital birth defects affect 1 in 110 babies born each year. CHD research is severely underfunded and every dollar you can donate will help someone, somewhere. We continue to walk in honor of ALL of the heart warriors worldwide. It is the #1 birth defect and there is currently no cure or cause.
Our sweet Georgia was born with a congenital heart defect called an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect). This is commonly known as a hole in the heart. Georgia had a very large hole in her heart that was found when she was 6 months old. It enabled blood flow between the two atriums of the heart, which should be separated by a septum, that was not there, due to the hole being so large. Georgia was not able to gain weight at the rate they wanted and began going into heart failure and had to have open heart surgery to correct the large hole. Georgia had open heart surgery at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital on 9/6/16 by Dr. Bret Mettler, when she had just turned one year old. It was a very hard time for us as a family, but with family and friends and the grace of GOD we were able to get through it.
Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to support my fundraising efforts for the Adult Congenital Heart Association, which supports children and adults. All funds raised benefit CHD research and programs. We appreciate your support! We would love to have anyone come walk with us in honor of our Heart Warrior Georgia on 10/30/21 that can come! It is always a fun time for all!
