Welcome to Melissa Preston's Fundraising Page!
Thank you for visiting my Walk for 1 in 100 personal fundraising page. Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to support my fundraising efforts on behalf of the Adult Congenital Heart Association. All funds raised benefit CHD research and programs. I appreciate your support!
In 1983, when I was just a few hours old, I was rushed to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia because I was blue. I was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) and a ventricular septal defect. I was ill most of my first year of life, and I was in and out of the hospital constantly. I lived a pretty normal life with only a few bumps along the way. When I hit 30, I started having artial Flutter issues and had to be cardio verted in the ER several times. I went on to have a few different procedures to close the a leak in my baffle. I just recently got back on the one year club and hope that trend continues.
Without research many of my procedures would of been full Open Heart operations. Without the ACHA community I wouldn't of found people that understand me and help me deal with my PTSD from living with CHD.
This year I teamed up to create an Adult CHD team with a few of my amazing zipper sisters.
