34 Years of Tickin'...
Ahh, I love a good even number! My last open-heart surgery was 10/31/85. Therefore, I've added it all up and made my contribution to myself in the amount of $126. Then, I went ahead and added 1985 to 2019 and came up with my fundraising goal of $4004! We can do this!
All of you are my friends, some of you are family, and most of you are long-time loving and loyal supporters, and for all of you I am grateful!
2019 will be my 9th time participating in this walk and raising money for such a great cause, so near and dear to my heart, every pun intended!
The Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) has become a place where I feel very much at home and comfortable and able to literally put my heart into all they do. Lobby Days, webinars and their conferences are all spectacular resources for myself the patient, my husband, family members and so many more affected by congenital heart disease, not to mention the new lifelong friends I've made!
This year I will walk to prove that, yes, you can be born with a congenital heart defect, have three open-heart surgeries, and, come October, celebrate 34 years with the same St. Jude mitral valve (pictured here) courtesy of Dr. Frank Midgley's careful hands who placed it there at Children's National on Halloween-eve, 1985.
And today, "It looks like a well-oiled machine," to quote my Johns Hopkins-based Adult Congenital Cardiologist, Dr. Thomas Traill! It keeps on tickin'...
It is quick and easy to support this great cause by making your tax-deductible donation. Please feel free to spread the word and even join us at the walk, it's a very fun morning that just proves why we do this!
Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support this year, last year, every year! Thank you!
Very Sincerely Yours,
